Mesotherapy
is the practice of microinjecting conventional or
homeopathic medication and vitamins into the mesoderm,
or middle layer of skin. This process enables corrective
treatment to a specific area of the body. The technique
was formulated in 1952 by Dr. M. Pistor in France, and
was recognized by the French National Academy of
Medicine in 1986.
Mesotherapy is based on a
simple principle: It is a medicinal bullet that is
delivered directly to a target in the body.
Orally-administered medication, on the other hand, must
first pass through the GI tract and get filtered by the
liver. Only then is it released into the bloodstream.
Most of the medication will end up being distributed in
diluted form throughout the body. By contrast, with
mesotherapy a much smaller dose of the same medicine can
be injected with a tiny needle at the area, with the
skin acting as an efficient time release delivery
system.
Advantages of mesotherapy are
numerous and include eliminating side effects and
contraindications associated with many medications. In
many instances, intolerance to a medication has to do
with it reaching parts of the body that have no need for
it. When homeopathic medicine is used, the body will be
stimulated to heal itself. Because the target area is
reached immediately—and undiluted—the amount of medicine
required is much reduced. This is more cost efficient,
and the results are instantaneous.
The microinjections themselves are relatively painless.
The only side effect is the possibility of minor
bruising.
WEIGHT
LOSS AND BODY CONTOURING:
The mesotherapy protocol using injections for weight
loss and body sculpting reduce and contour specific
undesired pockets of fat.
This method targets receptors on the fat cell’s surface
which produce lipogenesis (fat production) and lipolysis
(fat breakdown). Women have many fat receptors below the
waist which attract and store fat, making it difficult
for women to lose weight in this area. These receptors
produce fat when stimulated by carbohydrates, fat
ingestion, amino acids, hormones and alcohol.
A medical history and physical examination is required
preceding treatment. Based on individual requirements,
the doctor will select a formula consisting of several
medications which block the alpha receptors and
stimulate the beta receptors on fat cells. The formula
is injected into the skin, where it will slowly diffuse
into the fat and produce fat breakdown. The number of
required treatments will vary.
WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON MESOTHERAPY TREATMENTS?
Mesotherapy is used to treat cellulite, stretch marks, scars,
wrinkles, spot reducing and contouring areas of fat.
Examples are abdominal weight, saddle bags,
double chin, flabby arms, and cellulite on thighs and
buttocks.
In
Europe, where mesotherapy is common and has
been used extensively for years, women often begin
treatments in their thirties. However mesotherapy is
valuable during all phases of a woman's life, and can be
used for prevention as well as intervention and
